Whitelisting and Blacklisting IP Addresses

This article is intended for domains on Distil's Classic platform. If your domains have been migrated to the Apollo version of Distil, refer to our section on the Universal Access Control List.

Whitelisting

Whitelisting an IP excludes all traffic originating at this address from content protection checks. This is useful when your website uses monitoring tools, testing scripts, or other automated agents that would otherwise be detected by the Distil content protection system.

To whitelist an IP address:

  1. Select the domain you are configuring.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Protect Your Content header > IP Access List.
  3. Select Add IP Address to add a new IP address or IP range. You can provide multiple IP addresses separated by a space or new line.
NOTE: Enter IP addresses in CIDR notation.
  4. Toggle the access option to Allow.
  5. Select an expiration from the Expire from Access List dropdown menu.
  6. Click Submit to save the settings.

NOTE: In approximately 5 minutes, the chosen IP address will be whitelisted worldwide.

Blacklisting

Blacklisting an IP prevents all traffic originating at this address from reaching your origin.

To blacklist an IP address:

  4. Toggle the access option to Block.
  5. Select an expiration from the Expire from Access List dropdown menu.
  6. Click Submit to save the settings.

NOTE: In approximately 5 minutes, the chosen IP address will be blacklisted worldwide.
