Migrating Your Website to Distil Using Name.com DNS:

Name.com provides an easy to use and understand DNS system.  Migrating your Name.com domain is a simple process that involves two steps:

  • Change your CNAME record for www.website.com to point to a CNAME provided by Distil
  • Change your A Record entry for website.com to point to an IP provided by Distil 

Editing your www CNAME to point to Distil's Network

  1. Log into Name.com
  2. Click the Domain Management
  3. Click the domain you wish to create the CNAME record for
  4. Select CNAME in the Record Type menu
  5. In the Record Host field, enter www
  6. In the Record Answer field enter www.yourwebsite.com.distil.us
  7. Set the TTL to 1 minute. 
  8. Click Add Record.

  1. Log into your account at Name.com. 
  2. Click Domain Management. 
  3. Click the domain you wish to create the A record for. 
  4. Select ‘A’ in the Record Type menu. 
  5. In the Record Host field, enter your base domain 
  6. In the Record Answer field enter the IP Address of the Root Domain server you were assigned by Distil during the 'Add Domain' phase in the Distil Portal or deployment email. 
  7. Set the TTL to 1 minute. 
  8. Click Add Record.
