Migrating Your Website to Distil Using Bluehost DNS:

Bluehost provides an easy to use and understand DNS system.  Migrating your Bluehost domain is a simple process that involves two steps:

  • Change your CNAME record for www.website.com to point to a CNAME provided by Distil
  • Change your A Record entry for website.com to point to an IP provided by Distil 

Editing your www CNAME to point to Distil's Network

  1. Log into the cPanel at login.bluehost.com
  2. Select the DNS Zone Editor icon in the Domains section 
  3. Select the domain you're modifying from the drop-down box. 
  4. Scroll down to the heading named Add DNS Record 
  5. In the Host field, enter www
  6. Set the TTL to 1 minute.  
  7. Select CNAME in the Type menu. 
  8. In the Points to field, enter the CNAME assigned to you during the Add Domain phase in the Distil Portal or from the CNAME assigned in the Deployment email.  This usually is www.yourwebsite.com.distil.us
  9. Be sure the settings are saved.

Editing your root domain yourwebsite.com A Record to point to Distil's Network

  1. Log into the cPanel at login.bluehost.com.
  2. Select the DNS Zone Editor icon in the Domains section.
  3. Select the domain you're modifying from the drop-down box.
  4. Scroll down to the heading named Add DNS Record
  5. In the Name field, enter "@" to represent your base domain.
  6. Leave the TTL field at it's default setting.
  7. Select A record in the Type drop-down menu.
  8. In the Address field enter the root domain IP address assigned to you during the Add Domain phase in the Distil portal or provided in the deployment email. 
  9. Be sure the settings are saved.
