Rate Limiting Policy

Pages Per Minute

Set the max number (Threshold) of pages per minute (ppm) and the automated response (Action) Distil takes if a user bypasses the threshold.

The Pages Per Minute threshold is constantly calculated and is relative to the amount of minutes elapsed in the session. The average amount of pages opened per minute throughout the session should be lower than the "Pages per minute" rate limit set in the Portal.

As an example, with a rate limit of 20 pages per minute, a user will trigger a violation once they try to load the 21st page in the first minute of the session, however if they load 5 pages in the first minute, and 25 pages in the second minute, a violation will not be triggered as the average rate at that point would be 15 pages per minute (ex. (5ppm+25ppm) / 2min = 15ppm).

Pages Per Session

Set the max number (Threshold) of pages per session and the automated response (Action) Distil takes if a user bypasses the threshold.

NOTE: Pages Per Session is only applicable to web security API URLs.
